FAQs

What can I expect from my first session?

Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other. We’ll discuss your concerns, history, and goals for therapy. It’s important that you feel comfortable and supported, so please don’t hesitate to ask questions or share your thoughts.

Typically, therapy sessions last for 50 minutes. We may schedule longer sessions if needed for more intensive work.

We don’t offer bulk billing, as our clinic is a private practice. However, with a Mental Health Care Plan, you can receive a Medicare rebate of $145.25 per session, which helps reduce your out-of-pocket cost.

No referral is needed to book a session. However, to access the Medicare rebate, you’ll need a Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP. This can be arranged by booking an extended appointment with your GP and discussing your concerns. Feel free to contact us if you’re unsure or would like help getting started.

Yes, your sessions are confidential. What you share in therapy stays between you and your psychologist. However, there are a few exceptions, in line with ethical and legal guidelines. We may need to share information if there is a serious risk of harm to you or someone else, or if we are legally required to do so (e.g., by court subpoena). These limits will be explained in more detail during your first session, and you’re always welcome to ask questions at any time.

No, we do not provide court reports or medico-legal assessments. Our focus is on providing therapeutic support, not formal legal documentation.

That’s a completely valid question. While we appreciate your desire to hear from others, psychologists in Australia are legally prohibited from using client testimonials in advertising, including on websites and review platforms. This is part of the Psychology Board of Australia’s regulations under the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law.

If you’d like reassurance, you’re welcome to check our psychologist’s registration and qualifications on the AHPRA Register of Practitioners. This public record confirms current registration and outlines any restrictions or conditions.

We also encourage you to reach out if you have any questions or would like to talk things through before booking. We’re more than happy to have a brief phone call to help you feel confident and informed about your decision.
